Info :

The Asian Water Monitor Lizard (Varanus Salvator macromaculatus) found on Borneo, can be up to 3.2 meters long, but the most common is around 1.5 meters. They eat almost anything!

This day we had several trips up and down the river around Sukau, searching for different  animals. Our guide 'Junior' had great knowledge of all the animals in the area. He had also been involved in a documentary film that was made by the BBC, which was about a team of scientist,  who explored Borneo's jungle to find endangered species. The purpose was obviously to get more rain forest areas protected before it is too late, and the trees have been cut down!

The show was called: Expedition Borneo ....( Some clips from this broadcast can be viewed here )

We also had a trip up the river to the "Ox-Bow lake," which was a lake that has been formed by the river, at one point the river took a different turn, and therefor a part of the former river turned into a dead end . The current was not very strong here, and there were many fish in the water. Also many species of kingfishers, was seen often in this area.

Later in Sukau, we had a wonderfull meal served by the always smiling and attentive staff. After coffee, later in the evening were we saw different videos about animals in Borneo, in a room that was decorated as a small cinema.
