I will here on the following pages, tell a little in text and pictures, about our vacation to Borneo. On the trip was my wife Mette, our son Lasse and myself Soren. The pages here contain approx. 900 photos in slide shows + some extra, and approx. 30 video clips. Good luck ;-) Note: Have a little patience with the loading of pages as the entire slide show read in at once!

We started the jurney from Copenhagen on
1/11-2011 pm.
11 from Heathrow Airport.
The trip to Singapore lasted about
12 hours.
We flew with Singapore airlines, and the
service and food was exelent.
There was a screen for each passenger,
with access to lots of movies and a lot of games that you could pass
with flying time.We flew most of the time at approx.
11 km altitude, and at speeds between
800-900 km / h. We arrived at Kl. 06.30 local time in Singapore airport, where we after about an hour, flew on to Kuala Lumpur. with Air Asia.

Kuala Lumpur
is a fairly large city with 2.5 million
people.
There are some traffic, and many smaller
scooters / motorcycles running across everything and everyone!
The temperature is almost the same all
year - approx.
28-32 degrees a day, and 24-26 degrees
at night, but the humidity is high.
Here in November the rainy season has
just started, and some rain can be expected.
The rain falls however usually in
the after noon - some days early evening, or at night.
Upon arrival at the KL International Airport I was missing my suitcase, and it turns out that, for some reason it was stranded in Singapore airport. The staff at KL promise me that it will come with the next flight, arriving approx. 1 1/2 hour after. After waiting almost 2 hours I got it finaly, but now we have another problem. The driver who were ment to pick us up and drive us the to our hotel in downtown KL, was tired of waiting and have left! However, there are a lot of "drivers" in front of the airport, and they were very willing to drive us to KL, and since we did not really have a choice, we left the airport with one of them ... We asked several times what the price would be, but he said he would show us, when we got into his car. It must be said we had to drive an hour and approx. 70 km. We got a price of 355 RM = ca. 600 DKK - that would be the price in Denmark, but it was the tariff, for he had a list. During the trip it surprised us that we met many "real" taxis, and we of course asked why he had no signs. It was because there wasen't driving taxis from the airport, they drove only in the inner city, he claimed?!? And so we had a ride out of the ordinary. Oh my good, they have not very good manners on the roads here, and the horn is used more than the flashing lights. Safety first - was the driver's reply ...! Later came the guide, who sould have received us at the airport, and told us about the journey ahead. We asked what amount of money it would cost to drive from the airport to KL. Approximately 170 RM = 340 DKK, So maybe we just have been fooled - tourists in a foreign country :-). He has served a weeks salary for that ride. Swiss Inn Hotel in KL was somewhat below average, and the worst through the complete trip. Breakfast was included in the price, and it's was quite ok. The location was right next to China Town, and it meant that as soon as you stepped out on the street, there was much "dissturbens" It was not possible to walk quietly down the streets and seek out things you might buy, without beeing hailed the entire time by various street vendors. They had either one or another who had "special price" for us, or would sell us something to eat all the time. That we were soon quite tired of, but I bought a reasonable photo tripod for a nice price here. Next day we went up the Menara KL Tower. The tower was about. 421m high, and lay on top of a hill, with a rainforest-like park around (Bukit Nanas). We visited here also a small zoo that had snakes, spiders and birds mm. And a turtle species with 2 heads! Otherwise we spend our time here looking more at the city, and trying to eat a some food in different places. |

Conclusion after a few days in Kuala
Lumpur: It is a rather unpleasant city to walk around in because of bad
air, and very hot, and a lot of noise and bustle.
(But it's still very fun to be here, and received impressions :-)) |
